Unofficial Minutes for March

Meeting was called to order at 6:05pm by Jimmy Liles

Present were: Kathy, Wanda, Jimmy, Jeff, JB, Bucky, Shane and Diane

Absent were: Sharon

Jeff made a motion to accept February’s minutes, Shane seconded, motion carried. Jeff made a motion to accept treasurers report, Kathy seconded, motion carried.

We held 2 phone poles in March. March 1st to give Jeff $200.00 for advertisement for the Ambassadors game. It passed. Another pole on March 5th for $250.00 for DWI exhibit. It passed.

Asked Jimmy how the signs were coming. Need to find out from Farmer’s Electric about the poles by the Eagles and Bruhn Enterprises. Shane said he would find out. Also need to find poles to put up by Legion. Shane said he would see if they had any.

Discussion on the rack cards. We decided to just go with postcards. Shane found some places; the best deal was 10,000 cards for $350.00. We told Shane to go ahead and order them if they can print up 4-5 different post cards with different pictures as part of the 10,000, instead of just having 1 postcard with just 1 picture. Told Shane that if it was over $600.00 (including postage) we would do a phone poll. Kathy made the motion and Jeff seconded, motion carried.

We received and email from Host magazine with a list of prices to place an ad in their magazine. Everyone said no, ads cost too much.

Are we ready for the Ambassador game? Ambassador are to get here on the 14th. Jeff is going to take some of them to the radio station on Thursday morning. The Ambassador’s are going to eat lunch with the kids, then do a drug free assembly at 1:30pm. Wanda, Jeff and Angie will be at the door for tickets to get into game. Shane will be there to tell which kids go to Logan. Diane will be in charge of the memorabilia table. Everyone needs to sell tickets to the basketball raffle. Shane said he would bring a 5 gallon bucket to place tickets in to draw. Kathy just needs to get water and Gatorade to put in the locker rooms.

Chuckwagon will be right behind the baseball field where people park for the Bean feed. We have 9 chuckwagons committed now. We need vendors and sponsorship. If we don’t get enough sponsorship by next meeting we will cancel chuckwagon. Tickets will be $10.00 per person. We will be selling tickets before hand and also there.

Jeff talked to Warren Frost about having the Kids Derby there by the Marina, he said that would be great. Jeff still looking at fishing poles. JB will get posters out, but we need to find out who the sponsors are first. Will talk to Angie to see how much she will charge for 8X10 posters. Kids Derby will be June 3rd.

4th of July Celebration will be on Saturday, June 30th this year. Need to talk to Ray Gorman about brisket donation. WE will have tickets out by Memorial Day. Prizes this year will be $8000.00 but split into 3 prizes. We will give away $5000.00, $2000.00 and $1000.00. Jeff made a motion to give the prize money out this way and Kathy seconded, motion passed. So you now have 3 chances of winning. Tickets will still be $20.00 each. JB will be in charge of getting tickets (1000). If we have left over brisket we talked about selling it for $20.00 a brisket.

Discussion on chamber Banquet. Kathy is going to look into playing dice. Jeff is looking into a melodrama and Diane is looking into a murder mystery. They are to bring information to next meeting. Discussion on have a chamber sponsored fishing tournament – crappie, walleye, carp. Will think more about it and discuss it next month. Also talked about hosting a poker run. Need to find out more information on holding that. Talk to “Friends” of Ute Lake State Park and talk to the state park.

Jeff made motion to adjourn meeting. Bucky seconded.
